The latest press articles suggest that VW are planning to launch an Elise competitor at the October motorshow. No, seriously! Apparently, VW chief, Bernd Pischetsrieder's daughter drives a Lotus Elise and it has inspired a sub-700kg roadster that will feature plenty of airbags but no central locking, power steering or electric windows. How ironic is that? With a 2.0, 150bhp engine, performance will be impressive. If it's true though, the fact that will really hurt Lotus is the target £15k price tag. This is VW we are talking about, I didn't believe it either.
