February 2006Lotus announce the Exige S, a supercharged, Toyota engined, 1.8-litre four-cylinder Exige with 218bhp. Unlike the 240R, it is not the product of Lotuss Sport division but, comes off the standard production line. It's therefore significantly cheaper at £33,995.
Performance is good with 0 to 62mph in 4.3 seconds and 148mph top speed. The claimed combined fuel consumption is 31.0mpg.
